Does what it says on the ‘tin’!,
I purchased an earlier version of this cat flap but my cats found it very easy to move the slide mechanisms. However, when the flap broke I had no choice but to replace it with another Cat Mate as other brands are not the same size and fit.
Having consoled myself, that at least there wouldn’t be a gaping hole in the door, imagine my surprise when I realised that the design of the slides has been vastly improved to the point that I even found it difficult, at first, to move the slides. You now need to push the slide down and then move the slide along to the desired position. (It helps if you read the instructions!). The slides are most certainly tamper-proof as it says on the box (tin).
I thoroughly recommend this product, even if you have tried similar in the past.

Easy to fit, robust and looks good,
Arrived quickly. Did a lot of research before I bought this, considered the “chip” operated ones, but read about paws and head getting stuck when the cat changed their minds! Our cat doesn’t wear a collar, so ones activated by a tag where out, which left the traditional ones, and this came out best on most of the reviews I read (now that they have made the 4-way locking mechanism tamper proof!) It was simple to fit in our double glazed plastic door, which was 30mm thick. The supplied template and using Jig saw made it easy, but had to fine tune the fit with a stanley knife! I also sealed the cut edges of the door with silicone, and round the plastic tunnel sides to make sure it was watertight. Which it seems to be. All I’m waiting for now is for my very nosey cat, who normally gets into just about everything she shouldn’t, to go through it unaided!

Excellent product,
Having used Cat Mate products before I was confident that this would be a good buy, and I wasn’t disappointed. The fitting instructions were clear and easy to follow, while the product itself seems robust and user-friendly. Since fitting I have had no problems, and our cat seems much happier now that she can come and go at will!
